Overview

The Metro West Rail Tunnel project in Sydney required a reliable and efficient electrical infrastructure to support tunneling operations and construction activities. The project involved designing and implementing high-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation. Key components delivered included containerized substations, switchboards, metering panels, and advanced engineering studies to optimize power quality and system protection.

Objectives

  • Provide a robust electrical network to support tunnel construction and operations.
  • Ensure safe and efficient power distribution across the project.
  • Conduct in-depth engineering studies to optimize system performance and mitigate risks.

Key Deliverables

  1. 11kV/433V Containerized Substations: Installed to deliver stable high-voltage power distribution.
  2. 1kV/433V Containerized Substations: Provided flexible and reliable low-voltage power solutions.
  3. Low Voltage Main Switchboards: Ensured safe and efficient power control throughout the tunnel network.
  4. High Voltage Ring Main Units: Integrated to improve power reliability and facilitate network flexibility.
  5. 11kV Metering Panels: Installed for accurate monitoring and management of power distribution.
  6. Engineering Studies: Conducted protection studies, power quality analysis, fault level assessments, arc flash evaluations, and load flow analysis to enhance safety and efficiency.

Outcome
