Overview

JLE Electrical successfully delivered the augmentation, relocation, and installation of overhead powerlines for the newly developed 5 MW Temora Solar Farm in New South Wales. Our scope encompassed the Level 3 electrical design, including the management of stakeholder collaboration to secure all necessary approvals for construction. The project required extensive electrical infrastructure works to support the solar farm's power supply. Our team ensured the reliable transmission of electricity through the installation of high-quality overhead lines, advanced switchgear, and reclosers.

Scope of works

  • Augmentation & Relocation of Overhead Powerlines: A key component of the project was the relocation of existing powerlines to make way for the solar farm's infrastructure while ensuring minimal disruption to the local power network.
  • Installation of New Powerlines: We installed 6 kilometres of new powerline conductors to supply electricity to the solar farm, ensuring optimal efficiency and safety.
  • Gas Switch Installation: Two new gas switches were installed to manage power distribution securely and efficiently, allowing for rapid isolation in the event of an electrical fault.
  • Recloser and Metering Units: The installation of reclosers with integrated metering units provided enhanced fault protection and monitoring capabilities to maintain the stability and performance of the power network.

Outcome

Given a tight timeline to deliver this project JLE carried out the L3 electrical design for the project along with the construction of the work. The project involved working in rural areas with limited access, but our team utilised specialised equipment and techniques to navigate the site efficiently and safely. With multiple stakeholders involved in the development of the solar farm, JLE Electrical maintained clear communication and collaboration with the project team to ensure that timelines and quality standards were met and the commissioning date for the farm was on time.
